Do you know Miss Kido?

She's family oriented, a mathematician and expert of English, and you can find her under the sun enjoying almost any outdoor activity  - she is the one and only, Christine Pinzon Kido!

First Thing's First, Family

If one thing's for sure, Christine Pinzon Kido is family - centered. She learned this from her parents, Oliver (Alfredo) and Elizabeth Tenorio Pinzon, who have had 7 children. Christine's siblings include Oliver (who passed on at 15), Wilfred, Sharon, Maricel, Jacqueline, and Terrilyn. Just to get to know her siblings a little better, Wilfred works for Senator Michael San Nicolas, Sharon works as a computer operator, and Terrilyn recently graduated from high school. Christine absolutely loves family bonding time. But now, with each having their own busy schedule, they always make it a point to get together at least once a month.

Christine and her husband, Jack Kido, began their love journey for over 17 years ago and after about 15 years of dating, they finally tied the knot in 2012. Christine and Jack have three wonderful children, Christian Jacob, Cassandra Jolene, and Celene Jaehanna. With the perfect blend of Chamorro, Japanese, Filipino, and Thai, Christine loves the diversity and cultures her family shares and continues to teach them the importance of working hard, striving for the best, and never giving up despite whatever situations life throws at them.

An Educator's Journey

Another great thing about Christine is that, although she has been an educator for almost 10 years, she continues to let herself learn more and more about the art of teaching. Prior to her journey, she attended Talofofo Elementary school, Inarajan High school, and Southern High School. After, she pursued Secondary Education ESL at the University of Guam (UOG) and graduated in Fall 2005. Currently, she is taking her Masters of Education in Reading also at UOG.

Christine continues to inspire many students at John F. Kennedy High School, the school she started teaching at in 2006. There, this mathematician has taught General Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Geometry. On the English side, she has taught English 9ESL, 10 ESL, English 11, English 9 Repeaters, and not to mention, English 9 Summer School. Christine also taught a summer camp at Agueda I. Johnston Middle Schol in Ordot and was a Tech It Out instructor for D.L. Perez Elementary School in Yigo. "Going to school everyday is a learning experience," says Christine. "Everyday is a different day, and every school year teaches me more than I thought I knew."

Vitamin D for the Kidos

Because Christine and her family don't travel as they would like, they spend their summers doing great outdoor activities such as fishing, biking, and running. Like every island girl, Christine makes it a point to relax at the beach at least three days a week, if possible. A fun fact about her and her family is that they make two "Around the Island" trips every year with her extended family, to share the beauty of Guam together with the younger members of the clan.

Another fun activity Christine enjoys under the sun is playing soccer. In 2001, she was a member of the Guam Women's National Soccer Team and traveled to Taipei, Taiwan. This experience introduced her to a new caliber of competitive international soccer and she is proud to have been able to represent her island.
